Beacons of Light

In our world today, we celebrate a good number of inspirational figures who have not only produced noteworthy results but whose lives continue to serve as model for many who desire to yield similar results.  In the kingdom for instance, Joseph wasn’t just a leader but his life can be understudied by anyone who desires godly leadership. Daniel wasn’t just excellent, but behind his results are secrets that when diligently explored, excellence can be guaranteed. Jesus wasn’t just a reformer or revivalist, he was the reformation himself. How about today’s contemporary Christian figures? Billy Graham, Reinard Bonke, John Maxwel etc. The list goes on and on. But what is common to these figures? Stay with me to find out.  If you observe keenly, these individuals didn’t just produce results, they embodied the results. In other words, their lives can be used as template by anyone who desires to yield their results. Let’s also put it this way: they are not just lights but they serve as source of light to others. They are beacons of light! In their light others see light. Before I get ahead of myself, let’s establish some few things.  Being a light is not the same as being a beacon of light. A beacon of light according to Merriam-Webster dictionary is a lighthouse or signal for guidance. We have been called not just to be light but that through our light, others can see and receive guidance on how to live a life of impact.  This can’t be better emphasized than Jesus did in Matthew 5:16 – “let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven We are meant to shine so that others may “see” our good works and that these works point them to God.  Friend, it is God’s desire for you and I not to just be light but that through our light others can be properly guided, that our lives can serve as template for good works especially in this fast decaying world.  Never forget, you are a beacon of light. So, Shine!
