 From Candles to Beacons

You are the beacon, and Jesus is the Light. The moment you receive Jesus, you become a beacon of light, shining bright for all to see. No longer just a candle, but a radiant beacon….  A few days ago, I stumbled upon a torn page from an old note, and as I gazed at this nostalgic sight, memories of my life’s journey came flooding back. Reflecting on my experiences, I was reminded of a mindset that held me captive for a long time, and still resonates in the minds of many today. The concept of a “beacon of light” – a shining example of hope and inspiration has long fascinated me.  –  Who is this paragon of virtue, I wondered? Is it the gracious woman, radiant with inner beauty, whose words and actions embody compassion and wisdom? Or perhaps the charismatic young man, articulate and sophisticated? Maybe it’s the social media influencer, whose inspiring messages attract a vast following, or the popular leader who appears to be doing great things.  –  Like me, you may have assumed that a beacon of light is someone who seems to have it all together a flawless, godly individual with a life that appears effortlessly perfect, inspiring transformation wherever they go. Or perhaps, like me, you believed that some people were destined to be beacons, while others were just ordinary candles, flickering in the shadows.  But as I continued to ponder, a ray of light pierced the core of my being, dismantling the web of confusion that had plagued me for so long. And then it hit me the beacon of light is not some perfect-looking person or a selected group of individuals.  –  Rather, the beacon of light is You! But there’s a twist. You are the beacon, and Jesus is the Light. The moment you receive Jesus, you become a beacon of light, shining bright for all to see. No longer just a candle, but a radiant beacon.  As we submit to God, letting Him live in and through us, He shapes us into His beacons, pruning our minds and souls, so we can shine brighter. (John 15:2) And the Light we carry isn’t just a gentle glow – it’s a burning fire that illuminates and transforms. (John 8:12) Jesus is the Light, and He wants to shine and burn through us, making us burning and shining lights. When we fix our gaze on Jesus, His beauty radiates towards us, transforming us into His image, making us beacons of light. (2 Cor 3:19) God wants to make you His beacon, a channel through whom He reaches the world. But we can only become His beacons when we let Him live in and through us. Dear beacon, it’s time to shine a light that transcends the physical realm, realm, one that illuminates the spiritual and earthly realms.  As written in Matthew 5: 14: “You are the light of the world-like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.”, you are the beacon that the world needs. Let the light of Christ transform you from being a candle to being a beacon, and watch the world become the Lord’s.  Shine on, Beacon of His Light!
