God has a need for lights-burning lamps

God has a need for lights-burning lamps placed on lampstands everywhere across the world to brighten

the corners where they are placed. This is because the whole world lies in darkness. This darkness

came upon the world when mankind was deceived by the devil to rebel against God and thereby became separated from Him. Having been separated from the Father of Light, mankind wandered on in darkness. Every thought of men’s hearts, the words of their mouths, and their actions became works of darkness because they were fruits of lives lived apart from the presence of God.

To remedy this situation, God sent His Son into the world. He came to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death. He came so that whoever believes in Him will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life. He is the true light that gives light to every man in the world, and as long as He was in the world, He was the light of the world. For in Him was life, and that life was the light of men. He not only shined while He was in the world; He also commissioned all who put their faith in Him as lights to the world. We who believe in Jesus Christ are a city set on a hill to show forth the life of God. We are the candles of God. Being candles, the Lord needs to set us on fire so that we can burn for Him. We need a constant supply of grace that keeps us burning without being consumed, and the Lord grants this to us through our communion with Him. But we also need an initial kindling of the flame of God in our hearts. We need the fire from heaven to light our candles, and it is the Lord’s good pleasure to give us this also. He who came to set fire on the earth will not withhold the baptism of fire from us. It is my earnest desire that as you go through this edition of the Rescue Newsletter, God will release a measure of divine grace to set you on the path of world illumination. The spark you need—the initial burst of energy to shine forth the light of God in a dark world—may it come upon you in the name of Jesus.
