Jesus Baddie

“My spec is a Jesus’ baddie. That’s my spec: Know God but be a baddie. Don’t be mediocre because you know God. Dress well and speak well. Do those things that bad girls do but do them for your husband alone.” – Spyro.  Who is a Jesus Baddie, and what does this identity represent?  I’ve always wondered what a “Jesus Baddie” is too, so I decided to do some “aproko work”. The term has been in use since 1920 and became popular in 2010 due to culture.  Baddie went from being a bad man/criminal to a girl who is always slaying and on fleek.  Then there’s this definition; Baddie is a sexually attractive woman whose hair, nails, makeup, clothing, and accessories are very detailed when she’s going to be seen in public.  Her hair is perfect, nails are painted, and she has the sexiest makeup you’ve ever seen.   You see, “A Baddie” is an identity, qualifying it with “Jesus”, does it mean less of or in a Godly way? Here’s what Scripture says:

● Be ye separate – 2 Corinthians 6: 17 – A call to separation and to stand out and not join in.

 ● Be transformed not conformed – Romans 12:2 – A call to be different irrespective of how social norms change.

 ● Be dead, “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me…” Galatians 2:20 – A call to a different lifestyle.

● Royalty and Priesthood – 1 Peter 2:9 A call to a “Carriage.” How you see and carry yourself.  There are markers for our identity in Christ and the words we use to define ourselves. You may think it isn’t deep. But is it?  The words you speak are spirit and life. The identity you try to take up should be in line with scripture.  11 Now to Choose a Spouse There are key foundational principles that we must not err on to avoid being burned. Be not unequally yoked with unbelievers – Today everyone is a firebrand, tongue-speaking and spirit-filled. How can you separate the genuine from the wolves?  Test Every Spirit – 1 John 4:1. Is he who he says he is, or is she? Test before you allow your emotions to become involved.  Beliefs –Amos 3:3: Can two walk together except they agree? Have you interacted with someone who said they were Chrisan, maybe more spiritual than you and your beliefs were different? Or maybe you believe the same things but your way of life clashes. I’m not saying it’s a red flag but wisdom is profitable to direct.  Marriage is a long game you know…  Trust – This one is hard, BUT Father I love him, he’s good to me, he prays, he works in church, he’s supportive… go on. The list is long. But what is God saying to you?  Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  At the end of it all remember this, you gave your life to Christ. Your faith, appearance, and how you live is all defined in your “Christ-like life.” Secondly, 2 Tim 3:16-17 – All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.  Selah!
