MOVIE REVIEW

LOVING AMANDA

-A story of divine encounters, love and

redemption.

The movie, Loving Amanda was executively produced by Pastor Laju Iren. It is a story of a young woman who was trying to find peace and redemption from a rough past. Amanda (TeniolaAladese) had suffered from church hurt and an abusive relationship. Her redemption story began when she entered the same bus with Ugochuckwu (Blossom Uchechukwu) whose main purpose of entering that bus was to preach. He followed her after they got off the bus and was able to give her a tract with his phone number on it. She went through healing by the help of the people around her. Her life was also going on well until she realized she was pregnant. She was finally living peaceably but this reminded her of her past. She was torn between redemption and relapse. She thought of the child as a haunting reminder, like it was a curse from her past. She held on to this feeling till her friend, PL (Pastor Laju Iren) – the voice of faith, assured her that children are gifts from God.

Here are some profound lessons we can resonate from Amanda’s heartfelt story;

– What you have done for Christ doesn’t qualify you to be loved by Him and it also doesn’t disqualify you.

– Just because something is a product of your past does not mean it has no place in your future.

– The gift of men is important in the life of a believer.

The story illustrates God’s steadfast love for us. Just as Ugochukwu extended the love of Christ to Amanda, we should also do so to people around us because God’s love does not condemn people but accepts them in their state and brings them unto transformation.
