CMDA Nigeria – Starting Strong | August 2025 Edition

Our  August session on “Understanding Leadership and Teamwork” facilitated by Dr. Maxwell Ubah was both inspiring and practical, focusing on the heart of true leadership. Some key takeaways included:

  1. True leaders are mature, responsible, and disciplined.

  2. Be the kind of leader others are proud to follow.

  3. Leadership is about taking responsibility for others’ growth.

  4. Leadership is not about position – David led while Saul ruled.

2025 Students - National Conference

The 2025 National Conference in Calabar themed “Steadfast: Faith, Love and Hope”, held from August 21st–24th, was truly an amazing and unforgettable experience. Here’s one in a thousand testimonies from the conference

“With the right consciousness, all excuses lose their power.” – Dr. Joshua Agunbiade

After nineteen hours on the road to Calabar with barely enough sleep in my eyes, I sat for Day 2. And in the very first hours of the morning these words gripped my heart with so much force that I suspect its impact will follow me for the rest of my life. In that moment, every ache and pain disappeared—only those words remained. Words that shifted something deep within me, tearing veils I didn’t even know were there.

And from that point onward, every single moment—every exposition, every parallel session, every praise, every CMDA talk—felt like I was in a room alone with God; It was God who saw through the suits and fancy shoes, and spoke directly to my naked heart.

Every speaker was chosen for me, every discussion tailored for my edification. Meetings really do make men, and CMDA Nigeria  meetings keep men steadfast. What a time it was.

To listen  and be edified by God’s messages to us through His vessels in the conference.

Chapter activities in the Zone included weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly prayer meetings, as well as general fellowships where members communed together in one accord through prayers, Bible study, and the Logo Exploration: The Cross and the Stethoscope. Training sessions in the Zone featured a Parenting Session: Back to School Tips and the Saline Process in the Enugu Chapter.

A CME training on Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response further enriched members both spiritually and professionally.

Missions

The Northern Zone recorded a successful pre-conference outreach at Koroko village, Kwali, which marked a refreshing time of service and ministry ahead of the forthcoming zonal conference.

GLOBAL NETWORK

UK & EUROPE

CMDA Nigeria Global members in the UK/Europe region gathered for an impactful Summer Meeting themed “Staying Focused” at Beachwood Court, North Wales. It was a refreshing time of fellowship, learning, impartation, and family bonding in God’s presence.

Participants testified that it was truly a life-changing experience, one that could hardly be put into words. Many expressed gratitude that they didn’t miss the meeting, affirming that it reawakened focus on what matters most amidst life’s many distractions.

The UK/Europe Summer Meeting was a life-changing reminder that “there is more to each of us” and that focus is key to birthing God’s deposit in our lives. Members described the encounter as unforgettable, with its impact still resonating. Beyond the spiritual impartation, it was also a refreshing space for families, professionals, singles, and young doctors to connect, strengthen one another, and build lasting relationships.

The call is clear: “Please get involved.” In a fast-paced environment like the UK, where isolation can easily set in, meetings like this remind us that we are stronger together professionally, spiritually, and relationally. Truly, no meeting could be better curated for Christian medics and their growing families.

STUDENTS' ACTIVITIES

EASTERN ZONE

The Eastern Zone testifies of God’s faithfulness throughout August with vibrant activities in prayer, fellowship, missions, and training. The month opened with prayer chains across chapters, interceding for the National Conference 2025 and the student elections, and closed with the National Editorial Department’s Day of Prayer and Fasting.

Scripture studies, Logo Exploration, and academic training sessions, including exam simulations and orientations, strengthened members both spiritually and professionally. Unique highlights included the launch of Gregory University Teaching Hospital’s newsletter, editorial and music workshops at Abia State University Teaching Hospital, and editorial day at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital. Sisters’ meetings also held, fostering growth and fellowship among female members.

Missions remained central, with hospital evangelism, hostel outreach, and a School of Missions programme spreading the message of God’s love and healing. We also rejoiced as new doctors were inducted into the Doctors’ Arm of CMDA Nigeria, with additional graduations at Gregory University Teaching Hospital bringing fresh labourers into the harvest field.

The climax of the month was the long-awaited National Conference 2025 hosted at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, which witnessed an undeniable outpouring of God’s presence, transforming participants and leaving testimonies that still abound. Retreats, executive committee meetings, and post-conference reflections across chapters further consolidated these gains. Truly, the Lord has done great things for the Eastern Zone, and to Him alone be the glory.

ENLARGE YOUR TENT

Greetings in Jesus name!

Focus for the month of August 2025: The rising of sons in CMDA Nigeria 3-lessons from the younger son!

Text: Luke 15:11-32 KJV

Usually he is called ‘the prodigal son’ but I prefer to call him the younger son. There are vital lessons to pick from his life.

  1. He had an understanding of sonship and a revelation of fatherhood. This was the basis of his request for his inheritance.
May God grant to us the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him…
    Eph 1:16-21.
  1. He acted on the knowledge he had. His first few decisions were wrong but he took a decision to return home when he discovered he had missed it in life. The Acts of the Apostles was written because the Apostles acted! What decisions have you taken that are awaiting your actions?
  1. Never disconnect from the Source of all blessings! As soon this son was disconnected, the waster came in to help him waste his substance.
  1. Never ignore warning signs! When the famine arose, he should have observed that the citizens still had enough food for themselves, their servants and even their pigs! How come this famine was apparently localized around him? He should have arisen at that point! It is never too late to return to the Father!
  1. Never allow the unequal yoke. It reduced the younger son to the level of pigs.
  1. Learn to talk your way out of any predicament: he said “I will arise”. A sealed mouth equals a sealed destiny. Say it loud: I am rising and shining in Jesus name! His brother never said anything and he never got anything! David talked his way to victory over Goliath. Life and death are in the power of the tongue! “As I have heard them SAY so will I do” says the Lord! Speak the word: “I am the head and not the tail, above only and never beneath”. “No weapon fashioned against me shall proper” in Jesus name! Speak the word.
  1. In this season of enlargement, something way beyond your expectations lay ahead of you in Jesus name! The younger son received a welcome that was way beyond his expectations!
  1. What awaits you is way beyond your expectations! Decide, Ask from God, Speak and Act according to the Word. The best is yet to come!

The LORD be magnified in Jesus name!

PRAYERS

  1. This is the day that the Lord has made! Let us rejoice and be glad in Him. Hallelujah! God is good to the House of CMDA Nigeria!
  1. Let us praise God for all our brethren all over the world, especially those who may have drawn back from their service in the kingdom of God as they are being restored like the younger son above, by the love of the Father, in Jesus name.
  1. Praise God for the success of the CMDA Nigeria Students national conference and the election of new national leaders. Great indeed is His mercies towards us!
  1. Praise God for the preparations for all the Zonal conferences and Pre-conference missions outreaches. Let’s ask Him to provide all our needs and make the conferences successful in Jesus name!
  1. Let’s pray that sons may arise from these conferences, who are equipped to enlarge their tents- visionary, decisive, action oriented and focused on God’s kingdom, in Jesus name!
  1. Let’s pray for all Nigerians, especially political, spiritual and traditional leaders etc that a new season of righteousness and love for the country may sweep across the nation in Jesus name!
  1. Let’s pray for all our brethren in the global arm that the Lord will grant them the grace and wisdom needed to enlarge their tents wherever they may live in Jesus name!
  1. Praise God from whom all blessings flow in Jesus name!

Glory be to God!
