DOCTORS’ MIGRATION: The Fate of the Vision

Dr. Uzondu Ugochukwu Amarachukwu

“…And the Lord gave me an answer and said, Put the vision in writing and make it clear on stones so that the reader may go quickly” (Hab 2.2 BEB).

Visions are given by God and they are the result of God’s promotion in the hearts of men. Time and eternity exists within God, He is not just knowledgeable about the beginning, He is the beginning, Alpha; He is not just knowledgeable about the end, He is the end, Omega. Visions from God are neither man-made and so are not amenable to human factors nor become victims of events/circumstances. God entirely sustains visions by Himself, He only uses willing human vessels to drive His vision – this is the privilege we have to be coworkers with Christ.

Visions from God are not limited to neighborhoods/locations. If it is from God, it is diverse in its operation–cutting across generations, tribes and cultures with the intent of bringing all things in obedience to God.

The vision of CMDA Nigeria is from God. We, doctors, are simply privileged players in the field. Hence, no one is indispensable; for God gave and will sustain this vision in those He has engaged with it irrespective of migration or not.

Our mission statement defines the jurisdiction of the workings of the vision – “…to the ends of the earth”. It is important to note that this vision is global and brings to light the great commission. Jesus speaking “…as the Father has sent me, so send I you”. The implication of this is that, wherever He sends you, you are His ambassador to fulfill His vision. What it also means is that God can take you to any length to see His vision fulfilled. One must note that in these times where it seems as if evil is multiplying, the gospel of Christ must wax even stronger. There is no better time to forcefully advance the kingdom with every one of our resources. God will do this by raising men who are spiritually, financially and mentally ready to carry this Gospel to the frontier of every nation through the practice of medicine which in itself is an open door.

One prayer I never cease to make is this “Lord keep me in the centre of your will; take full leadership of my life”. The place of His will can never be overemphasized because being in His will is a shield against harm. If you are still struggling with certain weights (lust, greed, love of money, lies etc), the Gospel of Christ cannot fully thrive through your life and by extension go to the nations (migrate) until the weights are first destroyed by the word.

Our prayer should be that God will deal with these issues because the spiritual climate and moral standards may not be better off where the Lord might want you to go. It’s a call for us to purge ourselves of every impurity.

In as much as you would want to escape the seeming hardship in our nation for what we believe is “a better life”, make sure the Lord sends you. Many have sent themselves and have been devoured, and some others have remained, but have been of little to no value to God; having subjected themselves to certain limitations for whatever reason–path of least resistance, background or average existence.

It is my prayer that God will show us what to do, things we must repent from and to have a life where He is entirely the captain of our lives. The vision is the Lord’s; He will sustain it.

Point of Critical Consideration

As you decide on your place of practice- whether to stay or migrate, there are few questions you must address:

  • How is your current state of alignment with the Lord?
  • How is your purpose in alignment with God’s plan?
  • What are your intentions?
  • Is this the right timing?
  • How can I be a blessing to the country of my birth from wherever I am?

“If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” Rom. 14:8. Whether we leave or stay, the vision must live in our hearts and bless all them who the Lord may lead us to.

Shalom.
