Rethinking Fashion: Where Self-Care and Wellness Meet Style

I’ll be honest, this topic would probably have made no sense to my younger self and here’s why. Up until a couple of years back at the very core of fashion, aesthetics seemed to take priority over well-being. You would see a young lady dressed in a stunning outfit and immediately wonder how much pain it cost her to look that good.  Over the years, the importance of wellness in fashion has become more evident and it’s refreshing to see how many have found the liberty, to not only own their personal styles but also prioritise their mental health and overall wellness while doing so.  Although, fashion is seen as a ‘current’ trend that is constantly changing, it’s also an expression of one’s individuality and lifestyle. Wellness and Self-care incorporates nurturing all aspects of health. In fashion, this would involve not just individuality but also, promoting self-acceptance, sustainability and placing high value on your comfort.  Fashion, when combined with wellness creates a beautiful harmony. Picture yourself on your way to a business meeting, but with your confidence and health in full gear. Not only will you be radiating 1000 plus megawatts of beauty, you’ll also feel great and those endorphins with surely be having a party on your inside the narrative has started changing and I believe there’s really no better time than now to wave this flag in the highest of places. Fashion doesn’t equal suffering and it is not mutually exclusive of wellness and self-care. While balancing these trio may not immediately come easy i, this is a call to be more intentional about integrating self-care with your personal style.  And since we’re discussing matters of fashion and wellness, have you realised that, there’s this distinctive aura given off by someone who not just dresses well but whose heart is also a beautiful place? The Bible says beauty is fleeting, but what is of utmost importance is what lies within a person (1 Pet 3:3-4).  You may want to take a minute or two to ponder upon what your heart might look like on the inside because, again:  1 Samuel 16:7b (AMP) “For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
