SEEKING DIVINE DIRECTION: BALANCING PURPOSE AND PRESSURE

“You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your   book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” (Psalms 139:16 NLT) Before you were born, there already was a God ordained laid out plan for your life.  You are not an incidental finding; there is a purpose for which you were made. And it is certainly the delight of our heavenly father to see the fulfilment of that purpose.  There is uniqueness in divine direction when purpose is involved. The understanding that we do not live life like those without a purpose; you cannot live anyhow or make decisions carelessly. You must remember and continually return to your source (Jesus Christ) for the blueprint of your life.  “Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left.” (Isaiah 30:21 NLT) There is a God ordained path laid out just for you and it is the Lord that will direct you on that path. God led Abraham on a certain route and when it was Isaac’s turn, God gave a different direction. And for every me God led the way He made provision and He sustained the person.   Though the world may be running towards one direction, you should wait for God’s leading and if He says “No, the other way”,  you go assured of His guidance. In these times of get rich quick schemes, japa syndrome and an intense pressure to  “make it”, you must be determined to  intentionally follow God’s leading for your  life. You must be willing to stand your watch and watch to see what God will say to you (Habakkuk 2:1) Our ultimate goal in life as believers is not to get into Forbes list, or Guinness book of records though none of these things are wrong in and of themselves. However our utmost desire is to get to heaven and hear our heavenly father say “Well-done thou good and faithful servant” May the pressures of this world not drown out God’s voice on the penitent matters of our lives. May we be found faithful.
