Man was not designed
to function all by himself. He was made by GOD to
depend on GOD. And when the devil came
to man, his mission was to make man not see the need to look up to GOD for anything.
However hard man tries, he was designed to be a dependent creature. Such that even when he thinks he is independent of GOD, it is still of the LORD’s mercies that he
is not consumed.
There are no self-made men. In 1 Corinthians 4:7, Paul
asked some questions, saying: “What hast thou, that thou didst not receive? Now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?
The Believer is that man who has identified his helplessness without GOD, and it is that conviction that brought him to the saving knowledge of JESUS CHRIST in the first place. Knowing that he may have the whole world, but without JESUS, it profits him nothing. This consciousness in itself, is humbling. Paul speaking in 1 Corinthians 15:10 says “But by the Grace of GOD, I am what I am. And His grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labor more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of GOD which was with me.
The Believer’s approach to life should be with the understanding that even those things that the carnal man wants to claim comes natural for him, actually comes because of the grace of GOD. And with such revelation, you won’t see the need to boast in yourself, rather, your boast will be in the LORD.
From your time, to your skills, to your resources, to your bodies, to your inborn talents, all these were given to you to manage responsibly to the glory of GOD, and we will give account for them all. Have you seen Matthew 12:36 that says: “that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment”? so even our words are not our own and we will eventually give account for how we used them. 1 Corinthian 4:2 says “it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful”. A faithful steward is one who acknowledges that GOD owns everything, and that whatever he has, he was given by GOD to fulfill what is in GOD’s heart as the reason for giving him such resources, and ultimately bring glory to GOD.
In conclusion, not only are you not the owner of the things
that are in your possession, you are not even your own. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says, “what? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the HOLY SPIRIT which is in you, which you have of GOD, and you are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore, glorify GOD in your body, and in your spirit, which are GOD’s”. And my final scripture will be Psalm 24:1 “the earth is the LORD’s and the fullness thereof, the world and they that dwell therein”.
