The first thing I saw when I was born was light and a bunch of other people in the room in uniform a woman, with her legs wide open and sweat, plastered all over her, looking at me like she just met a unicorn The first time I stood under a dark and cloudy sky. I realized how dark the world would be without light but then a cloud slowly moved away and illuminated the entire place under which I sat and boy! Was it beautiful. The first time I understood what NEPA meant to Nigerians I had already hit my head so badly on the wall before the light came back on and everyone screamed “Up NEPA!” but guess what? The bump on my head didn’t go just because light came. The first time someone came to lead me out of my dark place promising me peace, love and joy in a whole new light I first had to shift, with an eyebrow cocked up to ask: “Whining, is that you? Let the poor breathe e jor!” Exactly how I felt the first time I gave my life to Christ There was nothing bougie about the new life in Christ as I was told. All the preachers in the market whose sermon I once bought now felt like ogbonge fake China products. Soon enough, I realized no matter how dark a place is. After some time, we get used to it and navigate our way through it. Ask the blind, they’ll tell you in no feat Those NEPA have dealt with, they’ll give you full gist Yeah! We all get used to it after a while After darkness had had its game with us After we’ve tarried in the dark for a long time After we’ve forgotten Matthew 5:14 Yeah! We all get comfortable after a while. As comfortable as you’ll be solving Math in the dark you know why? You won’t SEE any mistake as comfortable as you’ll be drinking dirty water in the dark you won’t SEE the content of the cup anyways as comfortable as you’ll be telling her “You’re the most beautiful girl in the world” You can’t SEE any flaw wait! Light the candles!! Light the lanterns!!! Switch on the torch! Turn on the light! What in the world!!!!!! I couldn’t describe my disgust with any words. How could all these have escaped my sight? I now see things in a whole new light. Everything is now bright. Somehow, this feels so right. Why? Illumination Someone handed me a pen and a book. I need to take note of this revelation from this holy book but why hadn’t I seen it before here? The words weren’t even this clear. Why? Illumination how is this possible? In all these, I was comfortable. There was no problem afore- time. So, what changed now? Light? Knowledge? Experience? No, no, no. ILLUMINATION!
