THE IMPORTANCE OF TREATING YOUR BODY WITH CARE AND RESPECT

1st Corinthians 6:19-20 states and I quote, “Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you, and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourselves but to God; he bought you for a price. So, use your bodies for God’s glory. The theme of this Newsletter is, “Called to be sent” and as a Chris an, you can be called in any way. The theme is a call to action telling you to carry out your faith in different ways including caring for your body. How do you take care of the dwelling place of the Holy spirit? Is it welcoming or is it filled with different unhealthy factors which makes it unconducive for him? Do you eat healthy meals, get adequate rest, engage in activities of the mind that are stress relieving or do you overwork yourself and pay little attention to your body because you feel it is unimportant? Today, you are sent by the Holy Spirit to show adequate love to yourself and not subject your body to harm way. Taking care of your body in healthy ways is a way of honoring God. Various health habits you can engage in include: l Eating healthy meals that will nourish your body.  l Exercise regularly as it is important for your physical and mental health. A short walk on your street is a great start. l Engaging in stress management activities like meditating, praying, sleeping, seeking support from people especially those whose lifestyle aligns with yours, is a good way to take care of your body. Your body is a gift from God and it is one who is healthy, who can serve him. If you subject your body to a lot of discomfort, how do you want to welcome the Holy Spirit and how do you want him to use you as his instrument of impact? As he said in Ephesians 5:29, “People never hate their bodies. Instead, they feed them, and take care of them, just as Christ does the church”. In conclusion, you are called to be a steward of your body, and take care of it in the way which will please the lord. “My dear friend, I pray that everything may go well with you, and that you may be in good health, as I know you are well in spirit”. 3 John 1:2.
