Intimacy involves communion, fellowship, or an atmosphere of closeness and openness towards someone. Intimacy doesn’t necessarily involve sexuality. Dear friends, I would love to take you down memory lane. Do you remember the moment you surrendered your life to Christ when God poured his love on you and gave you his priceless gift in the person of the Holy Spirit? Do you remember the freshness and fire you had as a result of the love of God in your heart burning wildly? How the name “Jesus” struck your heart with love anytime you heard it. You were so eager to spend me with him and every moment with him was golden to you. Remember how you prayed, read your bible, and fasted just to get more intimate with him. Your mom even begged you to eat because your fasting seemed too much. All these were the natural response of your heart to the love you had for God because MAN’S NATURAL RESPONSE TO LOVE IS INTIMACY. So, what happened to you now? Why have you allowed the busyness of life and its distractions to make you refrain from intimacy with God thereby causing your love to wax cold? Why have you given room for distractions which later led to frustration and caused you to give in to other means of regaining your sanity? (other means like friends, movies, food, alcohol, and other negative addictions).  If you’re being honest with yourself, you will realize that these “other means ” only provided temporary satisfaction and still le you drained, making you sink deep into the mud of addiction. You felt good, yes you did! But the feeling never lasted. Permit me to tell you the truth, true spiritual satisfaction only comes from the place of intimacy. Your spirit will get starved when you deny it of intimacy and the effect of this will not only affect you spiritually, it would also affect you physically. Remember, The spiritual controls the physical. Starved people are usually irrational and weak. You wouldn’t want your spirit to grow weak and to prevent that, you need to feed your spirit man with the right meal. Rather than spend me with social media, ungodly friends, movies, and other unprofitable things, spend more me building intimacy with God. Note that there are different ways of getting intimate with God such as prayer, studying the word, praise, worship, and some times, stillness. THE LOCATION OF INTIMACY IS THE SECRET PLACE. In conclusion, I write this to urge you to go back to your first love, seek him like you used to, spend me with your bridegroom, and get inmate with him. Engage in a love affair with God and you will see the expression of this renewed relationship with God in your physical life. Shalom.
