CMDA Nigeria: Students Arm Updates – June 30

Dear CMDA Doctor

RE: CMDA Nigeria-Students Arm

Greetings from the Secretariat of CMDA Nigeria. We believe that all is well with your spirit, soul and body.

Recall that we had drawn your attention to the plight of the students on their 70th day at home. Today, it is exactly 100 days since the nationwide directive by the Federal Government for shutdown of schools, including tertiary institutions, which happened on 23rd March, 2020, in attempts to to curtail the spread of the COVID-19 in Nigeria.

Yesterday, the FG announced an additional 4 weeks (28 days) extension.

We hereby call on every Christian doctor to reach out to our students at this critical time of increasing despair and mounting worries. In these dark days in our country, we need to deliberately stand together, uphold one another, and most importantly do all we can to preserve the our tender tendrils that hold the light for the future of our profession and the Vision – our students.

What can you do?

1. You can call a student to know how he/she is doing and coping

2. You can commit to praying with/for them

Our Students’ arm has a very good structure which makes it easy to reach them:

  • National Leadership
  • School Leadership
  • Class/Level Leadership

Time Line

On the 23rd of March 2020, the Federal Government directed all schools and tertiary institutions closed to curtail the spread of the COVID-19 in Nigeria.

From Monday, 23rd March, 2020 to Tuesday, 30th June, 2020

We have 100 days Or 3 months and 8 days, including the end date.

100 days can be converted to any of these units:

  • 8,640,000 seconds
  • 144,000 minutes
  • 2,400 hours
  • 100 days
  • 14 weeks and 2 days
  • 27.32% of 2020

….a percentage of their lives that can’t be gotten back. As their faces differ, so do their challenges at this time, ranging from psychological to spiritual. Sometimes, it takes one word from an elder to make all the difference and save a life.

God bless you
