Drown

We watched in horror as he struggled to stay afloat, his desperate attempts to grab air above the water’s surface growing weaker by the second. With each passing moment, he sank deeper, until only an inch of his head and his flailing hands remained visible. Even if he knew how to swim, the water was too treacherous for him to overcome. The skinny man with a white beard, whom people referred to as his brother was consumed by guilt. “I should have persuaded him to stay behind; my fault!” he lamented, tears streaming down his face as he tore at his shirt. “Why did he even try to cross in the first place? Why did that man encourage him to come?” Another man spoke, as he tossed a rope from our boat in a desperate bid to save him, it fell short, leaving us feeling helpless. The atmosphere was tense, with people murmuring in hushed tones, except for a short, brown-skinned woman who screamed at the top of her lungs, “Help! Help!” while waving her arms towards the North. The struggling man shouted out a name, likely his father’s, in a plea for rescue. Amidst his cries, he was still struggling. We wondered if anyone could possibly save him now. Our faces were etched with tears, regrets, and blame. But then, a man grabbed his hands, and we could have sworn he was a goner, but he saved the drowning man. While in the boat, the “Hero” spoke, his words directed at the man, but resonating with us all: “Doubt has the power to drown you….” faithlessness! As a Christian today, challenges will come in your walk with God because we are in the world, but keep hope alive and have strong faith in the God who saves. He did it multiple times in the Bible, and because he never fails, he will do it for you.

NEVER ENTERTAIN DOUBT!
