All abstracts must present original research or program implementation.

Scientific conference theme

In line with current best practices, this year’s theme is “Improving Quality of Care in Resource-Constrained Settings”

Sub-themes

There are 5 sub-themes, and participants are encouraged to submit their abstracts in line with the following sub-themes.

Sub-theme 1 – The Role of Faith-Based Organizations in Improving the Health Sector

Sub-theme 2 – The Role of Health Workers in achieving Quality of Care

Sub-theme 3 – Patient Satisfaction and Patients’ rights

Sub-theme 4 – Creating an Enabling Environment for Quality Health Service Delivery

Sub-theme 5 – Barriers to Sustaining Quality Improvement Efforts

Abstract templates/formats

Abstracts should not exceed 350 words. Abstracts to be submitted should be in either of 2 formats.

Format 1

• Introduction/Background
• Methods
• Results
• Conclusion

Format 2

• Introduction/Background
• Case/Program description
• Lessons learnt
• Recommendations

Selection Criteria

The scientific conference committee assess each abstract on the basis of;

• originality of the work/idea presented
• technical/scientific merit 
• relevance to the theme and selected sub-theme

Individual abstracts may be submitted as an oral or a poster presentation.

The oral presentations are 10-minute oral presentation with 5 minutes allowed for questions.

Note: Please, do not submit the same abstract for oral and poster presentations. If an abstract does not meet the criteria for an oral presentation, it might be accepted as a poster presentation.

A poster is a physical display that is no more than 120 cm by 80 cm in size.
