Let’s grow together!

CMDA Nigeria – Starting Strong 2 | July 2025 Edition

This month’s session, “Where is the time? – A young doctor’s key to a productive life” left us all inspired and eager for more.

The session shed light on prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively, tips for work life integration, tools for productivity and task management, as well as avoiding burnout and mental fatigue.

Key Takeaways:

  1. Without a clear vision for your time, you will waste it.
  2. Your use of time will determine your socio-economic status.
  3. Because time is a limited resource, strategy is required to maximize it.
  4. We must shift our approach from “work-life balance” to “work-life integration”: acknowledging the overlap and interdependence of our work and life.
  5. Work-life integration helps us live the life of a Christian doctor while in our workplace.

EASTERN ZONE

Meetings

Connected by bonds of faith, brethren in the Eastern Zone remained fervent in their commitment to gather regularly, lifting up the affairs of their local chapters, the upcoming zonal conference in September, the nation, and one another in prayer. A key highlight was the State Prayer Rally, part of the nationwide prayer movement across CMDA Nigeria, which held in Abia State, drawing members together to intercede intensely for the growth of the Association and the fulfilment of God’s will. In several states, joint meetings were held in partnership with the student arm, creating a beautiful synergy of purpose and fellowship. Meetings were marked by powerful themes such as Enlarge Your Tent, deeper exploration of the CMDA Nigeria logo: The Cross, and Fire Upon The Altar – Lev 6:13. Some meetings also included training sessions where CME points were awarded, further strengthening members both spiritually and professionally.

Missions

The Eastern Zone was active on the missions front, reaching individuals and communities with compassionate medical and spiritual care. In Rivers State, the 2025 Prisons Medical Outreach took place at the Ahoada Medium Correctional Facility, where inmates received both healthcare and the life-transforming message of Christ. At RSUTH, members visited the children’s ward, ministering to the young patients through prayers and sharing the gospel, leading several to Christ.

Similarly, in Anambra State, the chapter extended their outreach to the wards at NAUTH, bringing a message of healing, salvation, and hope to patients and their families. These efforts reflect the heart of the mission—to care for the whole man: spirit, soul, and body

WESTERN ZONE

Meetings

As preparations got into full gear for the Western Zonal Conference in Owo, virtual prayer meetings were carried out daily for its success.  Brethren across the Western Zone have remained steadfast in gathering for fellowship, teaching, and prayer through weekly and monthly meetings. Various chapters held impactful gatherings centred around deep and edifying themes such as “Kingdom Culture,” “Raising Godly Children in Times Like This,” “Servant Leadership,” “Upholding the Great Commission,” “Missions: The Heartbeat of God,” “Discipling Your Child,” “More Than a Checklist: Becoming the Fruit, Not Just Bearing It,” “Physician, Heal Thyself,” “Intercession,” and “Wisdom, the Principal Thing.” Ondo also participated in the State Prayer Rally themed “Enlarge Your Tent,” which brought members across the region together to intercede for revival and expansion. These gatherings—held both virtually and physically—served to strengthen the brethren spiritually, professionally, and communally.

Missions

The Western Zone also demonstrated its commitment to holistic care through several mission outreaches. In Ile-Ife, brethren collaborated with the Jennifer Etuh Medical Foundation and other Christian bodies in the state for the Ifewara Medical Outreach, which took place at the Jennifer Etuh Medical Centre, Ifewara, Osun State. Activities during the outreach included medical consultations, general and specialised surgeries, health promotion and education, ophthalmology, dental care, obstetrics and gynaecology services, laboratory investigations, and medication distribution.

In Lagos, doctors and students at LUTH engaged in a missions week that featured rural medical and surgical outreaches, health campaigns, and prayer sessions. Additionally, they partnered with Christ Chapel International Churches for a medical and dental outreach at the Isolo Centre, Oke-Afa, Lagos, where they ministered healing and the gospel to the community.

NORTHERN ZONE

Meetings

Across the Northern Zone, Chapters held monthly and sub-chapter meetings, weekly prayer sessions, breakfast meetings, and interactive forums that fostered community and growth. The themes explored during these meetings were both timely and impactful, ranging from “Panel Discussion: Practical Steps to Workplace Evangelism,” “Enlarge Your Tent: In Career and Academics,” “Navigating Medical Research,” “The Role of CMDA in the Political Space,” “Interactive Bible Study,” “Panel Discussion on Professional Development,” “ Life After Medical School series; Navigating Medical Research.” and “The Dynamics of Teamwork.” Other chapters also held spiritually enriching fellowships on themes such as “The Rise of an Army: At the Scent of Water” and “Stirring Up the Passion for Missions.” A major highlight was the State Prayer Rally in Gombe, themed “Enlarge Your Tent,” where members across the zone gathered virtually to intercede for the expansion of God’s work in their lives and across the Association.

Missions

The Northern Zone actively demonstrated its commitment to wholeness missions through several impactful outreach efforts. In Taraba, members extended medical care to the underserved in Sembe Village, combining health services with spiritual encouragement. In Bauchi, a large-scale three-day medical missions outreach tagged “Flames of Fire” was conducted in partnership with various Christian organizations including FCS, CAN, FCN, PFN, and CMDA Bauchi. This outreach brought healing and hope to communities through both medical interventions and the Word. In Zaria, a mission awareness session themed “Stirring Up the Passion for Missions” was held to rekindle the flame of service among members. These efforts exemplify the core of CMDA’s Nigeria to reach the total man with the love and power of Christ, bringing transformation to both body and soul.

STUDENTS' ACTIVITIES

EASTERN ZONE

If the Lord had not been on our side, if He had not daily watched over and kept us, if He had not led and stayed with us keeping us sure and steady by the promises of His Word, where would we be? To Him alone be all the glory. For He alone is holy, and forever He is God. His people remain deeply grateful

The month opened across the chapters with sessions of intense intercession in the Abba Father Prayers. This spiritual charge carried into themed sessions of Logo Exploration, as the brethren in Gregory University Teaching Hospital (GUTH) and University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) examined the symbolic instruments of service and identity in the House. A close and reverent study of the Word also took place in Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH) during the first week of the month, while the family at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH) gathered around the Scriptures on two separate days. The community at GUTH again gathered on the 18th and 26th to draw from the well of living waters.

Prayer remained a pillar across the zone. Chapter days of prayer and fasting were consistently observed, with ABSUTH dedicating its Wednesdays to intercession. University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) held a three-day prayer conference alongside its regular Monday meetings, while Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) hosted a special prayer stretch at month-end. A unique retreat was convened by the UNTH Prayer and Missions Departments, marking an unforgettable time in God’s presence.

On the academic front, University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH) hosted a seminar focused on academic excellence and faithfulness, equipping students to thrive both spiritually and intellectually. COOUTH further strengthened its members through a professional examination simulation, allowing for readiness in both heart and mind.

Missions remained a flame that burned brightly. A Missions Awareness Seminar was held at GUTH, while UCTH embarked on hostel evangelism and University of Port-Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) conducted a prison medical outreach—all carried out on the same day. These moments became defining encounters with God as Christ was extended to surrounding communities.

As part of holistic development, ABSUTH hosted an editorial workshop, and UNTH ran an editorial board forum in tandem with its general House meeting. This followed a four-day Design Bootcamp, which created a fertile training ground for creativity and media skill development. In a similar vein, a Financial Congress was hosted at NAUTH, cultivating stewardship and wisdom.

Various chapter meetings and retreats took place throughout the zone in different formats, creating consistent platforms for fellowship, growth, and the building of Christlike character. Family meetings in several chapters enhanced unity and love among members, while gatherings involving the Doctors’ Arm in UNTH and UPTH fostered intergenerational collaboration and reflection on God’s faithfulness. Executive committee meetings—both at the school and central chapter levels—were also held across the zone to seek God’s direction for the House as the second half of the year unfolds.

With hearts full of faith and gratitude, the Eastern Zone stands firm in this testimony: What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Nay, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.

Meetings

At the chapter level, the impact of the conference remained evident through the month of May. The heavens were stirred by the prayers offered from all chapters at various levels. Prayer stretches were held at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH), and Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) on the 10th, 12th, 13th, and 25th of the month respectively. Echoes of God’s Word at the conference were heard again in meetings held across the chapters, notably in the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH) on the 5th and 9th of May, and UCTH on the 12th.

An intensive engagement with the Word of God, a vital part of the life of the Christian medic, continued with Bible studies held in Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH), Enugu State University Teaching Hospital (ESUTH), and University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH). Logo Exploration sessions were conducted in COOUTH, UNTH, and UPTH on the 16th, 19th, and 24th respectively, reminding members of the significance of the instruments of service and their unique place in caring for the whole man.

To bolster academic excellence—a vital leg of the CMDA Nigeria tripod—forums and seminars were held in UCTH on the 7th, ABSUTH on the 31st, and COOUTH and UNTH on the 24th of May. Tutorials and mock examinations were conducted across chapters to prepare members for their upcoming academic challenges. The EXCEL mentorship scheme was also implemented across the zone. First-year students were welcomed into the fold at ESUTH and UUTH as part of our ongoing efforts to begin early formative processes in future caregivers of the whole man.

WESTERN ZONE

With eight members in attendance, they reached over 100 people, offering medical checkups, consultations, counselling, and drug distribution. Plans were also made by the outgoing 400 level class to hold a street evangelism.

At UNIMEDTH, members carried out a health campaign at the Iya-laje Market. With 14 members participating, they engaged with numerous individuals in the market, raising awareness on health issues and sharing the love of Christ.

At UCH, preparations were in place for an in-reach/campus evangelism targeted at reaching students in the halls of residence with the gospel.

Missions

ABUTH conducted Hospital Evangelism on July 19th, continuing its faithful witness to patients and staff alike.

The testimonies from July reaffirm that The Rise of an Army is not merely a theme, but a living reality. Across the Northern Zone, sons and daughters are being equipped, sent, and established in God’s word, power, and purpose/will. As new doctors are inducted, new publications birthed, and new souls reached, the movement only grows stronger. The sound of marching is no longer distant, it is present. The army rises still.

Focus: _POWER FOR ENLARGEMENT!

Text: Matthew 28:18-20 KJV

And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and on earth.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

  • This is your prophetic season of enlargement!
  • God says to enlarge your tent in Isaiah 54:2-3, for there is a breaking forthcoming! However, it takes power to enlarge your tent!
  • Jesus says, “All power has been given to me, therefore go and teach all nations”! “All power” includes POWER FOR ENLARGEMENT*
  • Power is the ability to cause changes; great or marked ability to do or act; strength; might; force etc. It takes power to go into all the world.
  • In order to go you must overcome inertia within and resistance without. It takes power to reach all nations and teach them. By God’s grace we are already reaching our nation and doing some teaching with regards to the gospel and the vision of CMDA.
  • We thank God for the CEO and the entire Secretariat team: so many trainings and teaching going on. It takes power to get this done. So much goes into running an organisation such as CMDA. It takes power to get the job done. We praise God for the power He has given us!

  • Now the Lord is calling us to enlarge our tents. He is calling us to reach all nations! Go ye therefore, and teach all nations… We need power to reach all nations. We already started in Nigeria, then West Africa, then the rest of African and Middle Eastern regions then the rest of the world!
  • It will happen according to the will of God: Acts 1:8 KJV
  • “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
  • This enlargement is not local but global in scope. Hence the need to establish the global impact fund and Wholeness House phase 2 to enhance our operations. However, the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is the center of it all. Raising witnesses for Christ among doctors is our desire.
  • Make no mistake about this: we need the power of God for us to reach others and become profitable to the kingdom of God. So, we must seek more of His power so that we may serve Him better in our nation and in the nations of the world. The LORD be magnified in Jesus name!

PRAYER ITEMS

  1. Let us praise God for His mercies over CMDA Nigeria, Board of Trustees, Governing Board, Secretariat, all Zonal, State and Chapter leaders, all doctors and all our beloved students in Jesus name.
  2. Let us thank Him for the power He has given us to play our part in this great house in Nigeria and other parts of the world.
  3. Let us thank Him for the leadership and the member nations of ICMDA West Africa especially Liberia, our host for the ICMDA West Africa regional conference, 2025.
  4. Let us pray for the forthcoming ICMDA West Africa regional conference and pre conference missions outreaches in Liberia: that God will manifest His power in the course of planning and execution of these events in Jesus name!
  5. Let us pray that God will grant us such a revelation of His power in Liberia that souls will be saved and established in the course of the Pre conference missions outreaches and the conference in Jesus name!
  6. Let us pray for abundant provisions for all our brethren all over the world who desire to be in Liberia for the Pre conference missions outreaches holding from May 21-27 and/or the conference holding from May 29-31, 2025.
  7. Let us give God thanks for giving us authority to go and teach all nations and for the confirmation of His word in our lives in Jesus name!
