A Wealthy Hill City

From Matthew 5:14, a city set on a hill is visible to everyone and this means we are to live in a manner that reflects God’s light thereby becoming examples to all around us. Recently I got reminded of an old song (All I have is given to me by the Lord…). The songwriter said ‘ALL’. This includes my time, money, resources, talents… just name it.  James 1:17 emphasis that all good things come from the Father and that if He gave us all we have, He should tell us what to do with them. Therefore, all that we achieve with each of these resources should be to the end that He is glorified. We must first acknowledge that God gives the best gifts and that He is interested in our financial prosperity. God will indeed bless each of His children and provide them with all that they need for life and godliness.  Having received this blessing, we are to shine forth as light in our spending and seek the will of God per time and season to know what to do next. Seek out and support communities and individuals that align with God’s kingdom values. Also, we need to pray and ask God about ways to multiply that which He has committed into our hands (Romans 8:14). Work on that idea God has dropped into your heart, make that investment, sows that seed, start that business, and see how God comes through.  Finally, as in Philippians 4:11, contentment in Christ should be our focus such that after God blesses us, we’ll continue to continue to count our blessings and be blessings to the people around us. Hence, we must fulfill God’s agenda on the earth and reflect God’s light from that hill to all who need it. Be that light in your generation and shine forth from the place where God has positioned you.
