ZONAL EXECUTIVE MEETINGS

The three CMDA Nigeria zonal executives met in their respective zones to prepare for the National council meeting, elect new zonal executives, and discuss affairs of chapters in the zone.

The Eastern zonal executives gathered at Dannic Hotel Calabar, Cross River State, on the 11th of February to discuss Eastern zonal affairs and elect new zonal leadership. Major activities at the event included NEC reports and the election of new executives.

Executives from the western zonal chapters met virtually via Zoom for their zonal meeting on the 27th of January. Chapters presented their reports, the zonal secretariat gave its update, and they discussed ways to improve the state of activities in chapters and welcomed the newest chapter (FMC Ebuteme) into the zone. The zonal executive elections were postponed and held on the 11th of February. Still meeting via Zoom, the electoral committee members were introduced, and the elections were conducted.

CMDA Nigeria Northern zone, in preparation for its zonal council meeting, shared an online form for members to nominate leaders. On the 20th of February, they met virtually via Zoom for zonal executive elections and updates on the approaching national council meeting

17TH ANNUAL GENERAL COUNCIL MEETING

CMDA Nigeria Wholeness House Gwagwalada, FCT, hosted the association’s 17th Annual General Council meeting which was held from the 23rd to the 24th of February. The meeting brought together chapter leaders from various states in the country and also the board members. Below are the resolutions from the council meeting:

RESOLUTIONS OF THE 17TH GENERAL COUNCIL (GC) MEETING OF THE CHRISTIAN
MEDICAL AND DENTAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA SATURDAY 24TH FEBRUARY 2024 AT WHOLENESS HOUSE, GWAGWALADA, FCT.
HELD FROM FRIDAY 23RD TO
1. CONFERMENT OF HONORARY MEMBERSHIP
The Council approved the conferment of honorary membership of the association
on Mrs. Omowumi Oluranti Oderinde and Dr. Mrs. Adokiye Onoka (PhD), for their
support and contribution in missions and outreaches. They will be conferred with
this honor at the 6th Joint Conference in August 2024.
2. ATTENDANCE OF LEADERS/EXECUTIVES AT STATUTORY MEETINGS
The Council emphasized the need for leaders/executive committee members to
show responsibility by attending statutory meetings as these are points for transfer
of necessary information to help the association make progress. It was resolved that
letters should be sent to absent Council members expressing displeasure and
drawing their attention to the “Attendance Policy” in the bylaw of the association.
3. ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP SUBSCRIPTION
The Council emphasized that the annual membership subscription be paid at the
National level by individuals via the association’s official website.
a. Students – ₦1,000 per annum
b. Doctors who are 5 years and below in practice – ₦5,000 per annum
c. Doctors more than 5 years in practice – ₦10,000 per annum
CMDA Nigeria pays $2.75 as dues for each registered member to ICMDA.
Note: The Council agreed that henceforth the $2.75 ICMDA dues be paid by the
chapter for each registered member as reflected by the chapter’s numerical
strength. Payments should be made to the CMDA Nigeria national dollar account.
4. TENURE FOR CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO) AND DEPUTY CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (DEPUTY CEO) OF THE ASSOCIATION
The Council agreed that the appointment of the CEO and Deputy CEO shall be
renewable 3-yearly subject to satisfactory periodic assessment by the General
Council with the removal of the previous term limits. This was subsequently
presented to the Board of Trustees and ratified.
5. LETTERS OF REAPPOINTMENT FOR CEO AND DEPUTY CEO
The Council mandated the President to issue reappointment letters to the CEO
and Deputy CEO stating their tenures and terms of reference as is applicable.
6. GOVERNING BOARD FOR 2024 – 2026
The following were elected as members of the Governing Board for 2024 – 2026:

The new Governing Board will be inaugurated during the 6th Joint (doctors and
students) conference holding from Wednesday 28th to Sunday 31st August 2024.
7. SYNCHRONIZING CHAPTER ELECTIONS WITH ZONAL AND GOVERNING BOARD ELECTIONS
The Council agreed that the chapter elections be synchronized with the biennial
governing board elections; this is to take effect from the year 2024. All chapters
are expected to hold elections immediately after governing board elections
(between March and June in the year of the election).
8. THE CHAPTER ASSISTANT GENERAL SECRETARY/COMMUNICATIONS AND IT OFFICER OF THE DOCTORS’ ARM
The Chapter Executive Committee was mandated to have a functional Assistant
General Secretary/Communications and IT Officer who is skilled in the use of
Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
In addition to the responsibilities as stated in the bylaw (Article 11.5.4), he/she
shall be in charge of making regular updates of chapter activities, content creation
and verification of registered members on the association’s official website.
9. XVIII ICMDA World Congress 2026 in Jeju Island, South Korea
The Council agreed that a team be set up by the governing board for the early
planning of CMDA Nigeria members’ attendance at the XVIII ICMDA World
Congress in Jeju Island, South Korea.
10. REVIEW OF THE BYLAWS
The Council approved that the process for the review of the relevant sections of
the bylaws highlighted during the meeting should be initiated.
11. 18TH GENERAL COUNCIL MEETING
The 18th General Council Meeting slated for 2025 will hold on Friday 21st and
Saturday 22nd February, 2025.

STARTING STRONG

The February edition (4th) of CMDA Nigeria’s “Starting Strong 2” featured a special package for young doctors. The edition didn’t overlook the popular month of love, with Prof. Amaka Ocheke as the program speaker. This edition focused on “Love, Relationship, and the Christian Medic”. Prof. Ocheke spoke elaborately on the peculiarity of being a Christian Medic, addressing issues to consider in love and relationships, including the why, what, who, and how. After the enlightening session, questions were asked, and individuals shared their experiences and more insights on the topic.

In April the three zones of CMDA Nigeria student’s Arm will be having its zonal prayer and missions conferences, are you ready!

EASTERN ZONE

CMDA Rivers

CMDA Rivers faithfully held its prayer meeting every Friday virtually via the chapter Facebook page. The sub-chapters of RSUTH and UPTH conducted Ward Evangelism in their respective Teaching Hospitals to the Male Surgical Ward and A&E Male and Female Wards on the 13th and 16th of February. The UPTH chapter met for its monthly meeting at the Senior Staff Canteen, gathering to refresh their spirits and encourage one another. They received exhortation from Dr. Izu Metu on the topic “Lord Give Me The Mind to Work”.  

The brethren met to pray via telegram on the 16th. For its monthly meeting, the doctors and students of the chapter gathered in the last week of the month at CMDA COMMAND Centre, UCTH, Calabar. The event activities included prayers, exhortation, dedication of the new Excos. The direction for the chapter was set as The Acceptable Year of the Lord, along with a debriefing from the National Council Meeting.

CMDA CROSS River

CMDA Cross River Family utilized the popular month of love for missions to conduct a secondary school valentine outreach, aiming to share the love of Christ with young girls. On the 14th of February, the chapter visited Federal Government Girls College, Calabar, for the special outreach. Activities carried out at the school included health awareness talks on menstrual hygiene, dangers of abortion, complications of teenage pregnancy, career talks, drama ministration on the dangers of abortion and complications of teenage pregnancy. Sanitary pads were distributed (344), along with biscuits and drinks as a welfare package for the students. They shared the gospel of the love of Christ and gained new converts, whom they guided to a Scripture Union counselor at the school for follow-up. At the end of the day, the school was grateful for the opportunity to reach out to their students and deliver the message of Christ along with other items.

CMDA UMUAHIA

CMDA Umuahia chapter convened at Roots Cafe & Restaurant in the 3rd week of the month for its February meeting, themed “Starting Strong”.

The brethren met to pray via telegram on the 16th. For its monthly meeting, the doctors and students of the chapter gathered in the last week of the month at CMDA COMMAND Centre, UCTH, Calabar. The event activities included prayers, exhortation, dedication of the new Excos. CMDA Anambra gathered for a Logo Exploration study session at the Clinical Building NAUTH on 25th of February

CMDA ENUGU

CMDA Enugu members convened for fellowship and election at the NOHE Conference Hall on the 18th of February. The event featured a Word ministration session amongst other activities including the secretariat project briefing, subchapter reports, 2024 subscription payment, NEC Meeting updates and then the Election.

CMDA IMO

CMDA brethren in Imo met at Dr Udonyang’s residence to elect its new leaders on Sunday the 4th of February. Later in the month, they convened at the same venue for fellowship where they listened to the word from Dr. Uche Ugbonna and a clinical presentation on Lassa fever from Dr. Mrs. Nonye Egekwu. 

WESTERN ZONE

CMDA FMC ABEOKUTA

CMDA Ogun Abeokuta chapter gathered its members at the FMC Chapel, Abeokuta, for its monthly meeting to remind them of the need to walk in love with colleagues, patients, and other co-workers. The event’s topic was “LOVE WALK,” with 1 Corinthians 13 as the main text.

The chapter conducted hospital evangelism at the postnatal ward OF FMCA, where they preached the gospel to mothers, encouraged them to train their children in the way of the Lord, and pray for them. Ending the ward evangelism, they prayed with the mothers and shared tokens with them as welfare gifts. The ward evangelism, which took place on the 22nd of February, was tagged a success as there was no hindrance from anyone.

CMDA IDO-EKITI

The Ido-Ekiti CMDA Nigeria Chapter organized its members for Ward Evangelism at the Female Medical ward of Federal Teaching Hospital Ido-Ekiti. At the end of the month they met for a Logo Exploration session anchored by Dr. Alabi at the Hospital Chapel.

CMDA ASABA

Asaba chapter organized a seminar for its members on Marriage and Relationships. The seminar featured Love Talks, Teaching Sessions, Relationship & Family Life, and Interactive sessions amongst others. The event took place at the A & E Seminar hall on the 18th of February.  

CMDA LASUTH

CMDA LASUTH held its monthly meeting virtually through ZOOM for a Logo Exploration session on the 14th of February and met via the same means on the 28th to pray together.

CMDA LAUTECH

The LAUTECH Chapter convened at LTH Chapel for its monthly meeting to continue the study on the “Life of Joseph” anchored by Dr. Abraham Amoa. They also held a prayer meeting via zoom on the 11th of February.

 

CMDA SAGAMU

In Ogun State, CMDA Sagamu chapter met weekly to pray together at the Children’s Auditorium, Reigning Christ Chapel, OOUTH Sagamu.

CMDA LUTH

CMDA LUTH mobilized its members weekly to come together for weekly prayer meetings via Google Meet.

 

CMDA ILE-IFE

CMDA ILE IFE chapter took out time to sincerely and seriously pray for peace of the land, praying from Psalms 122:6-9 for institutions, its leaders, the peace of OAUTHC, OAU Ile Ife, Osun State, and Nigeria. They met for a family meeting at the Chapel of Grace in the second week of the month.

CMDA OSOGBO

The brethren in Osogbo met faithfully for its prayer meetings at the Chapel of Hope. Its monthly fellowship was themed “PRAYER DAY,” aimed at praying for all-round success in WACP/WACS & NPMCN

CMDA KWARA

The Kwara chapter met for fellowship online via Google Meet. The members listened to Dr. Ayo Ogunmodede, who spoke to them on the topic: “Starting well and Starting Strong,” a much-needed topic to help the members focus on their callings and run steadfastly.

 

CMDA OYO

CMDA OYO Chapter met consistently via zoom to pray and commune with the Father In the month of February.

CMDA ONDO

CMDA UNIMEDTHC Chapter met for its monthly fellowship via Google Meet. The Meeting resource person Dr. Felix O. Kumolalo.

 

NOTHERN ZONE

CMDA BIDA

In Niger State, Bida CMDA Nigeria chapter held its monthly breakfast meeting at the Praisefield Chapel. The main agenda of the meeting was the chapter elections for the positions of Chairman, General Secretary, CME Coordinator, Prayer, Financial, and Missions Secretary. The chapter house officer’s forum hosted another episode of its public webinar on the topic “Stay Back or Japa?” with Dr. Andrew Sunday and Dr. Sharon Bitto as the speakers. The webinar was held via Zoom on the 11th of February. The chapter gathered virtually via Zoom for a prayer meeting at the end of the month.

CMDA ZARIA

CMDA Kaduna Zaria chapter invited its members for its monthly lunch meeting at the Students Chapel on the 21st of Febuary. Dr. Pfongkazah Daniel Didamson the chapter chairman, spoke passionately to the doctors on the topic; “Deepening the Vision and Mission of CMDA”, revamping in the hearts of the doctors what they’ve been called for and where they are going to.

CMDA kefi

CMDA Keffi continually joined their faith together to seek the face of God concerning their lives, Families and the Nation Nigeria during its weekly prayer meetings. They convened at the FMC Keffi multipurpose hall for fellowship where they discussed the Significance of the needle and syringe from the Logo Exploration on February the 8th.

CMDA GOMBE

CMDA Gombe chapter had a special breakfast meeting in February. Converging at the Hospital Chapel the members listened with burden to Dr. Ebiske Kelechi on “Reawakening Our Commitment to the Vision and Mission of CMDA: My Part I Will Play”. The breakfast meeting also featured the welcoming of the newly inducted Doctors and House Officers into the Gombe CMDA Family.

CMDA BIDA

Bida CMDA chapter had a refreshing time together in God’s presence at the Praisefield Chapel, where they gathered for their first breakfast meeting of the year. They opened their eyes and hearts to hear God’s direction for the chapter and chose new leaders to serve Him in the new year.

CMDA KADUNA

CMDA Kaduna chapter organized an online Prayer and Fasting breakfast meeting for its members, praying for their lives, families, careers, the health sector, and various other intercessions for the New Year. They reminded brethren that “When there is a People to Pray, then there is a God to Answer.”

CMDA SOKOTO

It was the first family meeting of the year for the Sokoto chapter, with members within the state meeting at the UDUTH Chapel and those outside the state and country joining via Google Meet. The meeting took place on the 20th of February 2024.

CMDA KASTINA

The CMDA Kastina family had a refreshing time in God’s presence as they fellowshipped together and studied the scriptures from Genesis 46:28 and 47:7. They gained understanding that they are like Goshen, despite all that is happening around them.

CMDA KADUNA

Kaduna chapter convened its members for its monthly breakfast meeting at the Academic Block BDTH Kaduna. At the meeting they had a beautiful time studying the Bible from 1 chronicles 12:32, on how to become the change you desire in times like this.

CMDA KOGI

The brethren in Kogi organized a training session for its members at the Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja Chapel. The training, focusing on Medical Postgraduate Training, was facilitated by Dr. Mrs. Chinenye Otorkpa and Dr. Mrs. Ibitola Enesi.

CMDA PLATEAU

CMDA members in Plateau had a good time at their breakfast meeting at Faith Alive Hospital, fellowshipping together, and listening to teaching on “The Uzziah Effect On Christian Medical Practice”.

CMDA BENUE

CMDA Benue had its breakfast meeting themed “A DECADE OF IMPACT”. The Benue brethren met at the Chapel of Christ the Restorer BSUTH on the 3rd of February.

CMDA FCT MUNICIPAL

CMDA FCT Municipal chapter members met at the hospital chapel, National Hospital, on the 18th of February for a Logo Exploration session facilitated by Dr. Alioke. During the session, they focused on Syringe chapter, specifically  on perseverance and sensitivity. With understanding on the subtopics, members encouraged one another, sharing personal experiences. It was an inspiring and thoughtful session for the Municipal brethren.

CMDA TARABA

CMDA Taraba convened weekly for its prayer meetings virtually via Zoom. They physically met at the FMC Chapel, Jalingo, for a general meeting themed “Vision Casting” on the 10th of February. At the meeting, the brethren were charged on the purpose of CMDA and particularly on how they can allow God to use them in this season of revival.

CMDA BORNO

The brethren in Borno chapter gathered for its monthly meeting, an inaugural and handover meeting. The Vision for 2024-2025 was discussed, followed by a prayer session and handover. The event was a testimony in itself as all nominated executives wholeheartedly accepted to serve in God’s vineyard and the Passion to carry on the vision was palpable. The two ex-officio members are committed to working on reviving the chapter with the new executives. Also, it was noted that the election had always been turned down for the past 4 years, with no attendance for fellowship despite advocacy. But God had answered their prayers.

CMDA KEBBI

Kebbi chapter convened at Ecwa Church, Makeran Gwandu, for its first monthly meeting in 2024. The meeting activities included an opening prayer, praise and worship session, testimonies, a message by Dr. Opeyemi Olaewe, who encouraged the members to run with the mission and vision of CMDA with perseverance. After the message, they prayed for the house and had a meeting on how to run the activities of the house, deliberating and agreeing on decisions key to the growth of the chapter.

CMDA NIGERIA GLOBAL

CMDA Nigeria Global had an amazing time in February at the UK regional virtual meeting. The virtual meeting took place on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at exactly 7 pm (GMT).  I’m delighted to share the tremendous success and infectious excitement that permeated our recent UK Regional Virtual Meeting on Zoom. This event truly exemplified the unity that defines CMDA Nigeria Global and showcased the remarkable dedication and enthusiasm of our members in the UK region. Watch the Video through this link.

The Americas held their Regional virtual meeting held on February 24, 2024. 

It was exciting indeed as some very important themes were discussed.

The chosen themes cover a broad spectrum of important aspects in the field of medicine, ranging from the entrepreneurial side of medical practice to the critical elements of mentorship and challenges faced during residency training.

  1. Lord we enter your gate with thanksgiving and straight into your court with praise in this new month.

Thank You Jesus for the preservation of the lives of CMDA members – Psalm 100:4, 103:1-5, Mal 3:6

  1. In this 3rd month, Father we receive an increase on every side, the economic situation in our country not withstanding – Hosea 6:2, Ish 54:2-3, 1 Chr 4:10

3a. Using CMDA members as the instruments of change, let us pray for a supernatural turnaround in our Health sector – at all levels, that it begins to flourish and become a joy to many nations – Job 8:7, Job 42:12

3b. Make each one of us an arrow head in our respective institutions and locations, a corner pillar we have become – Jer. 51:20, Ish 48:17

  1. Let us pray that the students arm and all the chapters of CMDA Nigeria will grow from strength to strength in Jesus mighty name, Amen – Psalms 84:7, 1 Chronicles 26:8.
  2. Our website is declared a solution provider in Jesus name. Logo exploration, Saline Solution, IfHEL, IMM, Touch magazine, Wholeness magazine, Missions Exploits magazine and other instruments of CMDA impact are presented before You, let Your hand be strong on all these tools of evangelism and discipleship in Jesus name – 1 King 18:37-39, Hag 2:7

6a. Fellowship exam seasons are here, prove Yourself mighty on our behalf Lord – Deut. 28:13, Daniel 6:3

6b. Divine intervention in the academics of our students Lord. We come against every form of instability and lack of progress – Psalm 46:9-10, Prov 15:1

  1. The preparation for our 6th Joint Conference in August, take it over Lord: wisdom to LOC members, favour where it matters, abundance of provisions and divine preparation of facilitators for impartation – Prov 3:5-7, Phil 4:6-7,19
  2. Let us pray against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, rape and all the negative vices ravaging our land. That, their chief strength be destroyed. And as many in their confines, be miraculously delivered, in Jesus mighty name, Amen – Psalms 105:36, Psalms 78:51
  3. Let us pray that the economy of Nigeria be restored/blossom again. God should intervene as touching the hardship in the land, even as HE sends HIS word to direct us as a nation – Genesis 26:12-13, Joel 2:25
  4. We pray for a change of story in our Nation Nigeria. Zeph 3:15
