CALL TO PRAYER:
Mt 14:14-23;
“GIVE YE THEM TO EAT” – Taking responsibility for a generation – 2
Meeting people’s needs is one of Jesus’ greatest advertising strategies and an attribute of His love and kindness. God is not one to see people sick, tired and hungry and not do something about it. His solution was: “Give ye them to eat.” Ordinarily, the disciples had no food with them and Jesus knew it. They did not have enough money and Jesus knew that also. There was no market nearby to get enough food, Jesus knew that too. So what was the essence of an instruction that was practically impossible to obey?
THE ESSENCE WAS TO TAKE THEIR EYES OFF THEMSELVES AND LOOK TO JESUS – THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH (Heb. 12:2).
Brethren, let us look up to God through Jesus Christ.
Let us not look around at the circumstances.
- In the text above, Jesus looked up to heaven and blessed the meal.
- At the graveside of Lazarus Jesus lifted up his eyes and gave thanks.
- As Jesus focused on the circumstances, he wept at the grave side of Lazarus but when he looked up and gave thanks, he made Lazarus come out of the grave.
- It is important where we look.
- In caring for the whole man: spirit and soul and body, we must continuously look to the Master alone.
- A political or economic solution alone cannot meet the need of a sick, tired and hungry generation.
- But God can and together with him we proclaim that we can in Jesus name!
PRAYER POINTS
- Give thanks to God for His word and the light He has given us.
- Give thanks for the gift of family, friends, fellowship of brethren and fellow Nigerians.
- Give thanks for CMDA, Nigeria: God has been faithful to us as a house.
- Ask God to help us all to look to Him alone as we go on in our walk of faith.
- Pray for the leaders of CMDA at all levels that we may learn to look only to God for direction and supplies.
- Let us pray for leaders at all levels in Nigeria, that God in His mercy may grant them grace to look above and not just abroad for direction and supplies.
- Let us offer praise and thanksgiving as God has heard our requests.
