CMDA Nigeria Webinar Series – March Edition:

In the March edition of our CMDA Nigeria Webinar Series, Professor Ezugwu delivered a thought-provoking lecture on the theme:“Bioethics From a Christian Perspective.”

This session explored the definition and evolution of bioethics, key principles like beneficence, autonomy, and justice, and how Christian values inform our stance on abortion, euthanasia, surrogacy, and assisted reproductive technologies.

Prof. Ezugwu emphasized the sanctity of life, the dignity of the human person, and the role of Christian ethics in navigating difficult medical decisions. He also tackled conscientious objection, ethical dilemmas in practice, and the balance between faith and modern medicine.

From reproductive technologies to artificial intelligence in healthcare, the session was rich with biblical insights and real-world applications for medical professionals in today’s complex world.

EASTERN ZONE

Infinitely merciful and abounding in kindness and love toward us was our God—our Father and King—blessed be He forever. Who were we that He was mindful of us? May our praises never cease but always resound to Him for all time. The Eastern Zone remained grateful and thankful for His continued and consistent help and grace. His Name be praised forevermore.

Eastern Zonal Prayer and Missions Conference (EZPMC) 2025

The long-awaited Eastern Zonal Prayer and Missions Conference (EZPMC) 2025, ably hosted by the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH) from the 2nd to the 4th of May, witnessed God’s presence, provision, protection, and power manifested in diverse ways. He called His people from all over the East and the country, and they responded to His call. A total of at least 1,069 students and more than 20 doctors attended this gathering of the saints, and the echoes of the marvellous things He did in our midst continued to resound among the chapters.

Meetings

At the chapter level, the impact of the conference remained evident through the month of May. The heavens were stirred by the prayers offered from all chapters at various levels. Prayer stretches were held at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH), and Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) on the 10th, 12th, 13th, and 25th of the month respectively. Echoes of God’s Word at the conference were heard again in meetings held across the chapters, notably in the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH) on the 5th and 9th of May, and UCTH on the 12th.

An intensive engagement with the Word of God, a vital part of the life of the Christian medic, continued with Bible studies held in Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH), Enugu State University Teaching Hospital (ESUTH), and University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH). Logo Exploration sessions were conducted in COOUTH, UNTH, and UPTH on the 16th, 19th, and 24th respectively, reminding members of the significance of the instruments of service and their unique place in caring for the whole man.

To bolster academic excellence—a vital leg of the CMDA Nigeria tripod—forums and seminars were held in UCTH on the 7th, ABSUTH on the 31st, and COOUTH and UNTH on the 24th of May. Tutorials and mock examinations were conducted across chapters to prepare members for their upcoming academic challenges. The EXCEL mentorship scheme was also implemented across the zone. First-year students were welcomed into the fold at ESUTH and UUTH as part of our ongoing efforts to begin early formative processes in future caregivers of the whole man.

Miaaions

Mission activities were carried out at various levels. Notably, a pre-conference urban outreach was held at a motor park in Itam, Uyo, by the UUTH chapter, reaching hundreds and resulting in several conversions. Hospital evangelism efforts were made at ESUTH on the 23rd of May, ABSUTH conducted a Children’s Day outreach on the 28th, and UCTH held a paediatric ward outreach on the 31st. A missions awareness campaign was launched by COOUTH on the 24th.

In addition, the chapter hosting the zonal secretariat (UNTH) organized a skill acquisition programme tagged Skillful Hands, where members acquired practical life skills, scheduled to hold on the last day of the month. Special interest group sessions took place in NAUTH, ABSUTH, and UCTH on the 10th, 16th, and 17th of May, where brethren gathered to learn and engage on pressing issues relevant to the Christian medic.

The month concluded with the commencement of the 2025 Institute of Medical Missions (IMM) training sessions for the East, hosted by ABSUTH. Our assurance remained that God still had more in store for us as He continued to gather and equip us for growth.

These activities served as fertile ground where members grew spiritually and experienced God in diverse ways, building us up in faith, fellowship, proficiency, and whole man care. Truly, God was raising a generation of men, an army unto the Lord, in the East, and for this, we were immensely grateful.

Focus: _POWER FOR ENLARGEMENT!

Text: Matthew 28:18-20 KJV

And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and on earth.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

  • This is your prophetic season of enlargement!
  • God says to enlarge your tent in Isaiah 54:2-3, for there is a breaking forthcoming! However, it takes power to enlarge your tent!
  • Jesus says, “All power has been given to me, therefore go and teach all nations”! “All power” includes POWER FOR ENLARGEMENT*
  • Power is the ability to cause changes; great or marked ability to do or act; strength; might; force etc. It takes power to go into all the world.
  • In order to go you must overcome inertia within and resistance without. It takes power to reach all nations and teach them. By God’s grace we are already reaching our nation and doing some teaching with regards to the gospel and the vision of CMDA.
  • We thank God for the CEO and the entire Secretariat team: so many trainings and teaching going on. It takes power to get this done. So much goes into running an organisation such as CMDA. It takes power to get the job done. We praise God for the power He has given us!

  • Now the Lord is calling us to enlarge our tents. He is calling us to reach all nations! Go ye therefore, and teach all nations… We need power to reach all nations. We already started in Nigeria, then West Africa, then the rest of African and Middle Eastern regions then the rest of the world!
  • It will happen according to the will of God: Acts 1:8 KJV
  • “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
  • This enlargement is not local but global in scope. Hence the need to establish the global impact fund and Wholeness House phase 2 to enhance our operations. However, the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is the center of it all. Raising witnesses for Christ among doctors is our desire.
  • Make no mistake about this: we need the power of God for us to reach others and become profitable to the kingdom of God. So, we must seek more of His power so that we may serve Him better in our nation and in the nations of the world. The LORD be magnified in Jesus name!

PRAYER ITEMS

  1. Let us praise God for His mercies over CMDA Nigeria, Board of Trustees, Governing Board, Secretariat, all Zonal, State and Chapter leaders, all doctors and all our beloved students in Jesus name.
  2. Let us thank Him for the power He has given us to play our part in this great house in Nigeria and other parts of the world.
  3. Let us thank Him for the leadership and the member nations of ICMDA West Africa especially Liberia, our host for the ICMDA West Africa regional conference, 2025.
  4. Let us pray for the forthcoming ICMDA West Africa regional conference and pre conference missions outreaches in Liberia: that God will manifest His power in the course of planning and execution of these events in Jesus name!
  5. Let us pray that God will grant us such a revelation of His power in Liberia that souls will be saved and established in the course of the Pre conference missions outreaches and the conference in Jesus name!
  6. Let us pray for abundant provisions for all our brethren all over the world who desire to be in Liberia for the Pre conference missions outreaches holding from May 21-27 and/or the conference holding from May 29-31, 2025.
  7. Let us give God thanks for giving us authority to go and teach all nations and for the confirmation of His word in our lives in Jesus name!
