A First Look at Aflame for Christ
There’s a particular energy that accompanies any “maiden edition,” and Aflame for Christ— the debut magazine of the CMDA Nigeria Lady Doctors’ themed ‘For Such a Time as this’ — has it in abundance.
Across thirty warmly designed, royalty-themed pages, the magazine attempts something publishing rarely does: it juggles the stethoscope, faith and femininity with graceful balance.
The focus is clear right from Page one, and announces its rhythm with a spotlight feature of Senator (Dr.) Ipalibo Banigo that sits boldly legs-crossed, and is immediately followed by an easy-to-swallow, like pounded yam, primer on Nigeria’s National Health Policy Landscape. Other pages are furnished with uniquely crafted paragraphs on subjects such as personal savings, health and wellness, family and career balance, peppered by fine poetry, scripture riddles, and quotes. Aflame for Christ, like a finger-licking delicious meal, is a carefully written love note from one woman to another who might read it on a night shift or a cool Sunday afternoon at home and want to feel both instructed and held.
The writing carries real warmth, that is complemented by a clarion call to the awareness that every woman is “God’s chosen vessel for this season, a “battle axe” in His hand for healing and restoration in our homes, institutions, and territories”.
If you know a sister, mother, woman in medicine holding faith and career in the same hand, Aflame for Christ deserves a place on her desk and that of her heart. Download the magazine right away via the link: (drive link for the magazine)
