 STARTING STRONG 2

CMDA Nigeria Starting Strong 2 May edition for young doctors, held on Sunday, May 26th. This interesting edition was centred on “The Big Picture: The Course of Life (an IfEHL excerpt)” with Prof. Chima Onoka. Below are a few of the many life-changing thoughts shared by the speaker:

  1. Once people are determined, they will have insight. With insight, they become creative, and with creativity, they become productive and ultimately make an impact.
  2. We don’t place ourselves on a lampstand, God does. Therefore, the need for us to find our place in God early.
  3. The course of life is determined by perspectives. Our perspectives are a result of our paradigms, and our paradigms are framed by different models from culture, religion, and society.

EASTERN ZONE

CMDA Rivers

CMDA Rivers family remained steadfast in their prayers, meeting virtually every week to pray together. The Children’s Medical and Surgery Department wards were the venues for the Sub-chapter’s monthly evangelism. The brethren at UPTH convened for fellowship themed “There’s More In Christ.” The meeting was hosted by the sub-chapters Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at the Senior Staff Canteen, UPTH. The chapter held its first Secondary School Outreach for 2024 at the Government Comprehensive Secondary School in Ataba, Andoni  LGA, Rivers State.

The brethren at UPTH gathered for a Prayer Meeting fellowship themed “The Mystery of Spoken Words” at the Senior Staff Canteen UPTH, hosted by the Family Medicine Department on the 25th of April 2024.

The RSUTH sub-chapter visited the Postnatal ward on March 12th to share Christ’s love with mothers, while the UPTH sub-chapter reached out to patients in the Paediatric surgery ward on March 21st. Additionally, the Doctor’s arm of the chapter supported the student’s arm in their Wholeness Mission at Eberikpoko School Field in Abua Odua LGA, on March 23, 2024. Toward the end of the month, the RSUTH chapter welcomed House Officers into the family at the Surgery Seminar Room, RSUTH.

CMDA UYo

CMDA Akwa Ibom chapter met for fellowship at the UUTH Pediatrics Seminar Room, where the enjoyed an excellent and spirit-filled delivery on the Syringe from the Logo Exploration by Dr. Utibe David.

It was a beautiful time for the brethren in Uyo, as there were also testimonies shared of exam success and healing during the worship session.

CMDA CROSS RIVER

After meeting online for their bi-weekly prayer meeting on the 3rd of May, the CMDA CROSS RIVER family gathered at the CMDA Command Centre, 1 CMDA Avenue, UCTH CBD. For the fellowship’s main event, they studied the “Logo Exploration” with emphasis on the Syringe. For missions, the chapter conducted a Dental Outreach at Obufa Esuk Primary School, UNICAL on the 24th of May, 2024.

The brethren in Cross River convened for an online prayer session during their bi-weekly prayer meeting days. Doctors and students of the state chapter gathered once more for their monthly forum meeting, which served to bid farewell to departing House Officers and Resident Doctors, as well as to welcome new members. Additionally, the meeting was marked by the inauguration of the LOC for Wholeness Outreach In August.

Other activities that took place during the event included testimonies, talks on “Career Paths in Medicine”, and “Financial Management for Young Doctors” and an address by the chairman. The meeting took place at the Upper Room Chapel, UCTH, Calabar. 

CMDA UMUAHIA

In Umuahia, the family gathered at the Roots Restaurant and Café for their monthly meeting themed “Leadership in Times like This.” The event, held on the 11th of May, featured the election of the chapter’s new executives.

CMDA IMO

CMDA Imo chapter members convened at Dr. Udoyang’s residence for another beautiful time of fellowship. The event featured a clinical presentation on UTIs by Dr. Egekwu Chimaroke and a word exhortation by Dr. Tony Agbara. 

CMDA ENUGU

The Enugu State chapter convened its members (Students and Doctors) at the National Orthopedic Hospital Enugu for a monthly fellowship.  Activities included Prayers, Praises, testimonies, the Word, and reports, including the 6JnC updates.

CMDA ANAMBRA

The brethren in Anambra went to the wards of NAUTH for hospital evangelism on the 1st of May. They partnered with CMDA NAUTH for one-day of Pre-Conference Outreach of the Students Eastern Zonal Prayer and Missions Conference at Ndikelionwu, Orumba North LGA, Anambra State. For fellowship, they convened at the Clinical Building, NAUTH. The event, themed “Whole Person Medicine,” was held on the 26th May, 2024.

CMDA EBONYI

The brethren at Ebonyi had a beautiful and inspiring Joint fellowship with the students. The topic of the meeting was focused on Financial Intelligence and Excellence. The event was held at the Community Seminar Room, FETHA 2, on the 28th of May, 2024.

WESTERN ZONE

CMDA FMC ABEOKUTA

CMDA Abeokuta family, in collaboration with Prison Fellowship Nigeria, conducted a medical outreach at the Borstal Home Adigbe, Abeokuta, on the 1st of May. They reached over 100 persons at the correctional facility through medical consultations, vital signs checks, blood sugar checks, free drug prescriptions, counseling, and appropriate referrals. The chapter convened at the FMCA Chapel for fellowship, where Dr. Ikuseedun spoke to the members on “The Sweet Fragrance,” with the text from 2nd Corinthians 2:14-15. On the 18th, they partnered with DEA ONI Foundations for another free medical Outreach at CAC ISABO, Abeokuta.

CMDA FMCA Abeokuta chapter organized a Send-forth/Welcome service for its House Officers and New Residents, themed “Go Ye Forth and Do Exploits” with a text from Daniel 11:32. The speaker, Dr. D.O. Awonuga charged members to do exploits and stand out in their different fields of life.

CMDA LUTH

It was an eventful month for CMDA members in Lagos. They met weekly to pray via Google Meet and partnered for two mission outreaches. For the first outreach, they partnered with RCCG Christ Disciples Parish and Spring of Joy for Widows Foundation for urban missions in the   Aguda, community, Surulere, Lagos. Activities carried out during the outreach aimed to reach widows included taking vital signs, medical consultations, dispensing medications, distribution of food items, and ministering the Word of God. For the second outreach, the chapter partnered with the Blood of Jesus Ministry for a medical outreach at Abaranje, Ikotun Lagos. Lastly, they met for their monthly fellowship at the Chapel of Transfiguration, LUTH, on the 29th of May, 2024.

CMDA IDO-EKITI

In Ido-Ekiti, the brethren gathered for a fellowship-themed “The Effective Prayer” Members came with expectant hearts to petition the Father, who answered prayers, praying for the hospital management and their own lives. During the fellowship, Residents, Interns, and Medical Officers were welcomed into the state chapter.

CMDA OYO

The brethren at Oyo did not cease in praying for themselves and their families, the chapter, CMDA Nigeria, and the country as they met via zoom weekly in the month of May.

CMDA LASUTH

At LASUTH, CMDA family had its monthly prayer meeting online and met for fellowship to study the Logo Exploration at the Chapel of St. Luke the Physician on the 22nd of May, 2024.

CMDA LAUTECH

CMDA LAUTECH invited its members (Students and Doctors) for a joint fellowship at the LTH Chapel. The meeting’s exhortation was given by Dr. A.A Olatunji on ‘’Building a Godly and Successful Family as Medical Practitioners.’’ The chapter met online two days later for a prayer meeting via Zoom.

CMDA IDO-EKITI

CMDA Nigeria family at EKSUTH organized a prayer conference for its members. The conference was themed ‘’THE LORD’S ARMY’’ (Joel 2:7-11). Charged to pray with the assurance that prayers touch the heart of God and ascend on fire, the members raised incense to the Lord an army of the Lord. The prayer meeting took place at the ART Seminar Room on the 10th of May, 2024.

CMDA OSOGBO

The brethren at Osogbo met for a timely fellowship-themed “THE NIGHT COMMETH,” with a text from John 9:4, at the Chapel of Hope, UTH, on the 17th of May, 2024.

CMDA ASABA

CMDA Asaba family met for a general prayer meeting at the Pediatrics’ basement of FMC Asaba. They reconvened at the A&E Small Seminar Room of FMC Asaba for a fellowship. The event’s topic was “Navigating through Life in Medicine.’’

ILE-IFE

CMDA Ile Ife met regularly for its online prayer meetings. The chapter gathered for its monthly meeting at the Chapel of Grace, OAUTHC, on the 13th of May. Later in the month, the House Officers at the chapter organized a fellowship for the House Officers in the chapter. The meeting’s topic impacted the hearts of the participants on ‘’Work Ethics and Mental Health: Drawing the Line.

CMDA ESHMA

In Benin, CMDA ESHMA chapter members came together for its monthly meeting at the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Benin-Sapele Road, Benin City. They were admonished topic “Redeeming The Time.’’ The meeting held on the 17th of May.

CMDA SAGAMU

Weekly prayer meetings brought together the Ogun Sagamu members every Friday, to pray together at the Children’s Auditorium, Reigning Christ Chapel, OOUTH Sagamu. 

CMDA DELSUTH

CMDA brethren at DELSUTH met for their fellowship with its topic ‘’Impact in Hard Times’’ and the speaker Prof. Stanley Okugbo. The meeting held online via Zoom on the 26th of May, 2024. 

CMDA BENIN

The energetic brethren in Benin met online for their weekly prayer meeting. At the end of the month, they conducted Ward Evangelism at the Neurosurgical Ward. They gathering again for fellowship with an exhortation by Dr. Omorogiuwa Oduware on “Living with Eternity in View.’’ The event took place at the Mental Health Seminar Room on the 30th of May, 2024. 

Other activities in the chapter included its weekly prayer meeting and monthly fellowship with an exhortation focus by Dr. Sunday Adeoye on “The Wisdom from Above”.  Both meetings were held virtually via Zoom.

NOTHERN ZONE

CMDA KEFFI

CMDA Nigeria family at Keffi met at the Conference Hall in Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, for fellowship. During the fellowship, after a beautiful time of prayers and worship, the members broke out into sessions to discuss case scenarios on the event’s topic: ‘’Hospital Evangelism and You: Ethical and Strategic Approaches.’’ Following this, they had a question and answer session. Participants earned CME Points. The chapter members met for their weekly prayer meeting via Google Meet.

CMDA FCT MUNICIPAL

The Municipal CMDA FCT chapter met for fellowship at the Hospital Chapel, National Hospital CBD, Abuja, on the 19th of May 2024. During the fellowship, Dr. Jibir Kefas Gurama spoke to members in attendance on Medicine: My Ministry,’’ exploring how integrating faith with professional duties can extend Christ’s healing and love. Moreover, he highlighting the vital role healthcare professionals play in spiritual as well as physical healing.

CMDA PLATEAU

CMDA Plateau members had an exceptional time in fellowship at the Faith Alive Hospital on the 11th of May. The fellowship featured a panel discussion on ‘’The Christian Medic and The Current Economic Realities,’’ addressing questions such as: Do the current economic realities and hardship affect us as Christian Doctors? What decisions am I taking that make me vulnerable? These questions guided the members towards better economic realities as Christian medics. Additionally, the Plateau chapter collaborated with Global Relief Plateau for an IDP Medical Outreach 2024, at Barkin Ladi, Bokkos, and Mangu.

CMDA BENUE

CMDA Benue members met for a general prayer meeting at the Chapel of Christ the Restorer, BSUTH. The Prayer meeting was organized for members to meet and pray about personal, local, and national issues including the 6th Joint Conference.

CMDA KOGI

The brethren in Kogi had their monthly fellowship at the Federal Teaching Hospital Chapel, Lokoja. The meeting featured a seminar topic on “Finance Literacy for the Christian Doctor: How to Flourish in Hard Times,” facilitated by Dr. Ebune on the 26th of May, 2024.

CMDA TARABA

The brethren at Taraba were consistent in weekly prayer meeting which held via zoon weekly.

CMDA GOMBE

CMDA Gombe family met for fellowship at the Hospital Chapel, FTHG, on the 11th of May 2024. The fellowship featured teaching on “Career Progress and the Home Front: Need for a Health Balance,’’ and the election of the chapter’s executives. The newly elected leaders will be unveiled at the next meeting in June.

CMDA BIDA

CMDA Bida family for its monthly meeting met online via zoom for fellowship, receiving the word from both Dr. Adekanye Dr. Mrs Babalola ” on the events theme: ‘’Dealing With Offenses.’’ The chapter also met for a prayer at the later end of the month. 

CMDA BORNO

The brethren at Borno State convened for fellowship Salvation Chapel, UMTH, on the 19th of May, 2024.

CMDA GWAGWALADA

CMDA Gwagwalada family met for a general house meeting at the Wholeness House CMDA Nigeria, Gwagwalada. On the 25th of May, 2024.

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” – Matthew 7:7-8

“Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.

For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:” – Isaiah 44:2-3

PRAYER POINTS

  1. Worship the Omnipotent, Omniscience and Omnipresent God who is our Father – Rev 1:8 Gen 17:1
  2. Let us thank God for thus far He has helped us in CMDA Nigeria and He yet bears us – Isaiah 46:4
  3. Lay aside every limiting weight that can pull you away from God – Heb 12:1, 1 John 1:9
  4. Beam your light ahead of us on village outreaches and the entire territories we step on, paralyse the territorial powers and all contrary spirit there in – Luke 10;17, Jer. 51:20-23
  5. Let your spirit of supplication come over every member of CMDA. Strengthen every weak kneel among us Lord – 1 Thess. 5:17
  6. Soul winners don’t lack, provide for our needs Lord – Luke 22:35, Isaiah 33:15-16
  7. We receive for CMDA members, the grace to give our very best to the course of the Lord in Jesus name – Gen 22:13-14, Prov 22:29
  8. We make demands on wisdom to win souls even as You give us unction from above Lord – Prov 11:30

We pray that these souls abide and become deeply rooted in Christ – Matt 28:19

  1. We, Your fire army frustrate the agenda of hell over every preparation for the 6th JnC scheduled for August ending – Ish 48:3, Joel 2:1-5

We pray for divine help for every of our LOC subcommittee

  1. Intercede as the spirit leads on behalf of Kano State and Nigeria as a country. Our leaders seem confused. Let our own Joseph emerge from the prison.
