Healed By His Stripes

It must have been a wonderful meeting of the trinity and demonstration of God’s special love to human being at creation when He said “Let us make man in our own image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground”(Gen. 1:26).

God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number, fill the earth and subdue it.” (Gen 1:28a). God saw all that he made, and it was very good (Gen.1:31a). Showing that as human beings we were created complete without problems of sickness, diseases and satisfied with all heavenly blessings.

But alas in Genesis Chapter 3, Satan tempted men and he fell into sin and man lost the divine authority, protection and instead of joy and good health, a curse was placed on him and in hardship and pain he now makes his daily need. To Adam he said “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, you must not eat of it,’ “Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life (Gen 3:17). Sin came because of disobedience to God’s instruction and brought pain with it.

This ‘par’ became part and parcel of men and as part of its sickness and various disease and distresses which were previous alien in the Garden of Eden. For the bible says however, if you do not obey the Lord your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving today, all these curses will come on you and overtake you: The Lord will plague you with diseases until he has destroyed you from the land you are entering to possess. The Lord will strike you with wasting disease, with fever and inflammation, with scorching heat and drought, with blight and mildew, which will plague you until you perish. (Deut 28: 15, 21, 22). So we battle disobedience to divine order from God at creations and breaking of laws guarding principle of good health.

But wait a minute and consider that our God is merciful for the psalmist said “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those that fear him, for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust (psalm 103:13-14) and in psalm 103 vs. 1-5 bible says praise the Lord, o my soul; all my innermost  being, praise his holy name and forget not all his benefit ,who forgives all your sins and heals all your disease, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desire with good thing so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s and in psalm 107: 20. He sent forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.

So then for us to enjoy divine healing we need to come back to God in repentance through Christ because ‘if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and purify all of us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9) Jesus went through Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness among the people ( Matt. 4:23) Jeremiah declared: Heal me, O Lord, and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.

“A ruler came and knelt before him and said “My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her, and she will live” Just got up and went with him so did his disciple, just then a woman who have been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touch the eagle of his garment. She said on her self. If I only touch the garment, I will be healed. Jesus turns and saw her. Take heart, daughter he said “your faith has healed thee” and the woman was healed. In the ruler’s house, he saw the flute player and the noisy crowd, he said” Go away. The girl’s not dead but asleep “but they laughed at him. After the crowd had been put aside, he went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up. (Mat. 9:18-25).

As Jesus went on from there two blind men follow him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, son of David, then he touched their eyes and said “According to your faith will it be done to you. And the sight was restored.

Therefore let us come to Christ with total belief, trust and faith in Him with our various sickness in any form, from whatever source, we shall surely be healed. For he is our healer. (Matt.8:16). You may say, above testimonies, healing and miracle were performed by Jesus himself while on earth; but let us examine this; Jesus delegated this power and authority to all who belief in Him. “And this signs will accompany (follow) those who belief. In my name they will drive out demons; they will pick up snake with their hand; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all, they will place their hand on the sick, and shall recover.(Mark16:17-18) and Peter said “Silver or Gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk” taking him by his right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. He jumped to his feet and began to walk.

Philip went to city in Samaria and proclaims the Christ there. When the crowd heard Philip and saw the miraculous sign he did, they all pay close attention to what he said. With shrieks evil spirit came out of many and many paralytic and cripples were healed. So there was great joy in the city.

Jesus expressly gave an open cheque when he said “if you remain in me, and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish and it will be given to you.(john 15:7) and I will do whatever you ask in my name so that the son will bring glory to the father. You may ask me for anything in my name and I will do it. (John 14:13-14).

Therefore let’s come to the throne of Grace in prayer and receive mercy for he said’ therefore I will tell you whatever you ask in prayer believe that you have received it and it will, be yours. (Mark 11:24). For he came that we might have life in abundance and we have not destined to be ridiculed or weighed down by burden of sickness and diseases. He is our maker, Satan brought problem to the word. He came to set us free by shedding his own blood on the cross of Calvary . Meditating on these words of him; surely we shall realize that” by his stripes we are healed (1 Peter 2: 24.  Isa. 53:5).
