Topic: Interprofessional Rivalry among Health Workers: Causes, Implications, and Impact on Healthcare delivery for the Health sector
Date: Saturday, June 24, 2023
Time: 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Platform: Zoom
According to a study done in 2017 involving 120 respondents (doctors and other health workers) in South Western Nigeria, Interprofessional Rivalry (IPR) was perceived to be the leading cause of conflicts in 70% of the cases. Doctors and other health workers have maintained significantly divergent opinions on the leadership of the health team, management positions, enactment of health policies, patient management protocols, etc.
IPR in the health sector is a lingering problem that has become commonplace for more than a decade in clinical, non-clinical, and other healthcare settings/institutions in Nigeria and many other countries worldwide.
Join us this weekend as we have a holistic discussion on the causes, implications (legal, and social); and impact of this problem on healthcare delivery and the health sector locally and globally.
