Prescription #34

Beloved brethren,

We thank the Lord who has mercifully caused us to see the end of the month of May, which was very challenging. As a country, we saw a peaceful transition to a new government at the national and state levels, but sadly the loss of lives of several citizens from conflicts, especially in Plateau State. We pray for an end to such bloodletting in our country.

In the face of the current economic and security challenges, CMDA Nigeria continues to remain faithful to the commission of caring for the whole man. Members of our various chapters have continued to engage in fellowship meetings, outreaches, seminars and training programmes and the reports have been heartwarming. Our monthly webinar which was held on the 28th of May, 2023 dealt with the issue of ’health worker burnout’; its causes and implications on the health system. It was facilitated by Dr Onyebueke, a consultant psychiatrist, and Chairman of CMDA Nigeria, Enugu state chapter. It was insightful and instructive and needs to be listened to by every health worker. (https://youtu.be/34EnoNySCHw).

The state of our health sector; our primary place of calling remains a source of deep concern. The recent strike by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) and the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) serves as a reminder that more needs to be done to strategically address the inherent problems. Such problems and solutions are commonly discussed during the basic course of the Institute for Excellence in Healthcare and Leadership (IfEHL)and it is hoped that solutions will be curated in the near future to bring about a permanent end to the tide of incessant strikes.

Our global family, CMDA Global, Nigeria has been doing great things as well. Preparations are ongoing towards the upcoming regional meetings in the United States and the United Kingdom. Projects like the call for “Vision partners” , an appeal being made to interested persons who wish to support the great work being done through them have also kicked off, with encouraging responses reported. They also need our prayers and encouragement, to keep up the good work.

The ICMDA 2023 Conference will hold in June in Arusha, Tanzania. Please pray along. You are also invited to register for the upcoming zonal conferences of the Doctors arm which will hold in July 2023.

The spouses of our brethren Dr. David Nsima (Katsina Chapter) and Dr. Grace Bassey (Cross as well as a former Vice President of the students’ arm, Dr. Kayode Ajite (Ekiti State), went to be with the Lord. We pray that God will continue to comfort their families and the entire CMDA Nigeria.

Finally beloved brethren; let us encourage ourselves in The Lord; trusting that He always has good plans for us and our dear nation (Jer.29:11). Let us continue to look up to Him alone, who is the author and finisher of our faith, and the doer of all great things as we continue steadfastly in prayers, fellowship, and our commitment to a life of impact.

May the coming month of June bring us peace, joy, and good tidings in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Yours in Christ;

Chima Ariel Onoka

    Just an observation. The report under the heading of CMDA Bida is a repetition of the report of Ile-Ife.
    For your attention.
